RSL Queensland has supported the veteran and Defence community since our beginning in 1916. Understanding their needs means we can improve our delivery of care, promote the importance and continuance of commemoration, and maintain and build camaraderie in our community.
It’s our mission to provide care, commemoration and camaraderie to enable veterans and their families to live with dignity and respect.
Every day, we recognise and advocate for the exceptional skills and values veterans bring to our society, and we help all veterans and their families to find purpose, connection and support when they need it.
As custodians of our commemorative days and events, RSL Queensland keeps the flame of respect burning brightly, inspiring new generations to understand and appreciate the sacrifices made by those who serve.
And we recognise and nurture the bonds of mateship, nourishing the deep and enduring ties created through service, especially through RSL Sub Branches.
In all that we do, we’re consistently guided by the pursuit of RSL Queensland’s Objects.
RSL Queensland is honoured to have Her Excellency, the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD as joint Patrons.
Her Excellency was sworn into office in 2021, becoming the State’s 27th Governor. Prior to this, Her Excellency held many notable positions in medicine and medical management, including Chief Health Officer for Queensland.
Professor Nimmo also had a long and distinguished medical career. In addition, he served in the Australian Army Active Reserve for 17 years, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served a further 17 years on the Standby Reserve and was awarded the Reserve Force Decoration.
Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo are proud to serve veterans and their families across Queensland. For more information, please visit Government House Queensland.
To deliver on RSL Queensland’s mission, we’ve developed a strategic plan that outlines our intent to provide increased support to more veterans and their families, promote wider recognition of their legacy, and offer a sense of belonging and purpose to all in the veteran community.
Our 2030 'Strategy on a Page' outlines our priorities, goals and key initiatives, and our continued commitment to deliver for veterans and their families now and into the future.
Dream Home Art Union, proudly RSL Queensland, was first founded in 1956. Since then, it’s provided a sustainable way for RSL Queensland to fundraise and provide ongoing support to the veteran community.
The Art Union has always been more than a prize home lottery – it’s a legacy of giving back, with a mission to offer life-changing opportunities through our prize homes and continue supporting veterans and their families.
Proceeds from every ticket sold support RSL Queensland’s wide range of health and wellbeing services and programs.
The Dream Home Art Union will continue to set the standard for prize homes, while upholding the proud tradition of supporting veterans and their families.
